LMS Series 1000 kms of Spa

Peugeot instead of Audi claimed a double victory during the 1000 kms of Spa. Alexander Wurz, Marc Gene

and Anthony Davidson claimed the first spot, Stephane Sarrazin, Franck Montagny and Nicolas Minassian

completed the success for Peugeot claiming second place. Wouldn’t the nr. 9 Peugeot suffer from

suspension problems, Peugeot would have crushed Audi with a 1, 2, 3 podium. After six hours the Audi

R18 of Tom Kristensen, Rinaldo Capello and Allan McNish finished third.

As expected Audi took the lead but as soon as the front runners breaked for Les Combes, Allan McNish

spun his R18 due to late braking. One of the other early run offs was the Team Felbermayr-Proton Porsche

of Porsche factory driver Marc Lieb. His Porsche ended up in the kitty litter after contact with the AF Corse

Ferrari F458 of Giancarlo Fisichella. Lieb managed to get back to his team and after losing several laps he

rejoined the race. Peugeot managed to close the gap with the Audi’s significant and after the first pit

stops Alexander Wurz took the lead of the Spa 1000 kms. With 150 minutes the French lion’s claimed first,

second and third spot.  The safetycar was deployed after Christophe Bouchout crashed his Lola HPD heavily

after suffering from a suspension failure. The Frenchman was unhurt what rather couldn’t be said from his

heavily damaged LMP2 car. After six hours Peugeot claimed a double victory in front of the Audi of Tom

Kristensen who finished third. In LMP2 victory was claimed by the TDS Racing Oreca Nissan of Mathias

Beche, Pierre Thiriet and Jody Firth. Second place went to Boutsen Energy Racing Oreca-Nissan of Dominik

Kraihamer and Nicolas de Crem. Jonny Kane, Nick Leventis and Danny Watts took the final spot on the

podium with the HPD-ARX. In LME GTE Pro former F1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella and his team mate Gianmaria

Bruni claimed victory in the AF Corse Ferrari F458 Italia. Dominik Farnbacher and Allan Simonsen finished

second in their ‘458’. BMW drivers Andy Priaulx and Uwe Alzen scored the third and final spot on the

podium. Raymond Narac and Nicolas Armindo claimed victory in the LM GTE Am division, in Formula Le Mans

victory went to the Pegasus Racing Oreca of Julien Schell, Mirco Schultis and Patrick Simon.

who crossed the finish line first. Marco Sörensen scored his second podium of the weekend, Klaus Bachler

claimed the final and third spot on the podium.
